Shiraz is a great tradition in McLaren Vale, dating back to the 1850's. The first Coriole Shiraz was bottled in 1970 with the first vines planted in 1919. 'The Soloist' is produced from a single Shiraz vineyard at Coriole - planted in 1969, on red brown earth over limestone soil.
This wine has been selected as part of McLaren Vale's 'Scarce Earth' project which identifies outstanding single vineyard wines from the 2009 vintage.
Tasting Brief
2009 'The Soloist' Shiraz - A full, powerful McLaren Vale Shiraz. Aromas of mocha, mint and red berry fruits. The palate is full, long and rich with primary fruit, raspberry, plum and mocha.
The tannins are subtle and well integrated. Drinking well in its youth or carefully cellar for up to 12-15 years.
