Each row is planted on a small terrace which makes mechanisation of the block impossible - everything is done by hand. The vineyard is quite low yielding at 1-2 tonnes per acre, and is typically the most fragrant, spicy and perfumed out of the Coriole estate shiraz blocks. The name \"Pettigala\" comes from the Pettigala area in Sri Lanka, home to tea production and spice farming.
