Lloyd Reserve Shiraz
From the original 1919 vineyard
Shiraz is a great tradition in McLaren Vale, dating back to the 1850's.
Lloyd Reserve Shiraz is produced from a single vineyard at Coriole that was planted in 1919 and the first wine released in 1989.
The soil and roots are extremely deep and generally no irrigation is required. The wine is matured in French oak for approximately 18 months and then receives 12+ months in bottle before release.
Lloyd Reserve Shiraz is one of Langton's classified wines of Australia.
2013. 97 Points James Halliday. - James Halliday
2012. 95 Points. Deep garnet/purple, the 2012 Shiraz Lloyd Reserve is profoundly scented of crushed blueberries, blackberries and mulberries with hints of cedar, toast, marmite, menthol, spice box and anise. This full-bodied and concentrated Syrah is built like a brick house giving muscular fruit flavors that are structured by firm, fine tannins. It has a long, well-poised finish. - The Wine Advocate
2010. 97 points. This finely balanced shiraz of exceptional depth and sophistication unfolds a heady, spicy, deeply perfumed and sweetly oaked bouquet of blackberries, dark plums, white pepper and sweet fine-grained smoky chocolate/ cedar oak backed by a hint of mineral. Full to medium- bodied, it’s deep, dark-fruited and luscious, with layers of densely packed, briary dark berry/plum flavour underpinned by fine, grainy tannins. It finishes long and focused, with remarkable purity, balance and minerality. - Jeremy Oliver Wine Annual
