The 2025 Rubato Reserve Fiano is coming soon - release date 1 October 2026. Email [email protected] to receive release updates.
The grape variety Fiano originates from a province near Campania, east of Naples. Fiano was selected by Coriole when looking for a new southern Italian variety to grow in McLaren Vale, with the first vineyard planted in 2001. The first Australian Fiano was released by Coriole from the 2005 vintage. Perfectly suited to our climate, Fiano is now the largest growing whites category in McLaren Vale. In 2018 we first produced our Rubato Fiano, which celebrates Fiano's true textural qualities.
The term rubato may be familiar to music lovers. It means to play freely, or with abandon... not scared to stray from the normally trodden path.
“A warmer year than the one prior, yet there is restraint here, with an impressively stony facade, the depth of fruit giving gravitas but no plump, the impact savoury. Tart golden apple, raw quince, green almond, rail-side fennel, lemon pith, cracked coriander seed, dried Persian lime, powdered rock, sea breezes. This is so arrestingly savoury, so mineral of feel, structured with pithy, saline detail, the acidity electric. It’s a wine that needs a bit of thought, some meditation, and it’s well worth it. Drink this closer to cellar temperature to get the full picture. Let’s not dumb this down as Australia’s best fiano, as it’s one of our finest white wines, regardless of variety. 97 points” - Marcus Ellis, Wine Companion
