Vintages In Music - The Coriole Music Festival Story
by Chris Burrell

Founded in 1999 by Chris Burrell and Mark Lloyd, the Coriole Music Festival was then one of very few regional classical music festivals in Australia.  Each year’s Festival highlighted the musical tradition of a different country or geographical region. This book will illustrate and carry readers through different eras and traditions of Western music; it includes biographical notes, commentary and an index about more than 100 major composers. It also leads the reader through the festive atmosphere enjoyed by audiences attending this event each year.  We began regularly commissioning and presenting new works by younger Australian composers; this commitment has continued with support from enthusiastic donors, with sometimes 2 or 3 new works performed in today's Festivals.

Since the period covered in this book, the Coriole Music Festival has continued to grow and become more polished under the guidance of Mark de Raad and the McLaren Vale Music Festival Association - presenting thoughtful, inspiring and sometimes challenging programmes that carry dedicated audiences beyond the normal repertoire of the concert hall. Coriole offers a wonderful and invigorating musical weekend experience that attracts audiences from around Australia.
