The Galaxidia vineyard was planted in 1998 after purchasing a neighbouring property. The vineyard is a north facing slope and typically produces wines of fragrance and intensity. This small bottling of a 100 dozen is from the best block on this vineyard. The nose shows lifted red fruits and sweet exotic spice. The palate is plush and full bodied but shows restraint and freshness. Flavours of dark plum and mulberry are beautifully balanced by a savoury, earthy richness.
"Deep colour. Beautifully aromatic wine with dark cherry, hint stone fruit, aniseed aromas. Well balanced dark cherry, dark plum, blackberry fruits, fine chalky textures, very good mid-palate buoyancy and fresh integrated acidity. Lovely flow and length. Should develop very well. 95 points"

"A deep crimson, slightly opaque color. An intriguing wine with a broad shell of loamy tannins, sweet earth and a rich nose. Bright, highly aromatic red fruits and blueberries. This smells like something from the southern Rhone, sprung with Mediterranean herbal accents, polished leather, lavender, violet and a saline licorice strap/Fisherman's Friend sort of punchy freshness. Lots of personality and that alone is worth celebrating. Drink or hold. 93 points"

"Deep and bright colour, aromas of terracotta/dried earth and subtle brown spices, blackberry conserve later; the palate full-bodied and fleshy, rich and ripe and cuddly, with pillowy texture and a plushness that charms. Lovely now and for many years to come. 92 points"
