The 2017 Estate Shiraz beautifully demonstrates the mixture of fruitfulness and savoury elements that our 50 year old vineyards provide. The nose shows cherry, bitter chocolate and aniseed spice. The Galaxidia vineyard was planted in 1998 after purchasing a neighbouring property. The vineyard is a north facing slope and typically produces wines of fragrance and intensity. This small bottling of a 100 dozen is from the best block on this vineyard. The nose shows lifted red fruits and sweet exotic spice. The palate is plush and full bodied but shows restraint and freshness. Flavours of dark plum and mulberry are beautifully balanced by a savoury, earthy richness. Buy it here.
This 2 acre vineyard was planted in 1920 in the foothills of Willunga. The soils are deep, gravelly loams and this block always show great old vine complexity with a suppleness of Willunga soils. A very different wine to those produced from the Coriole estate. The nose shows blueberry and sage with hints of charcuterie. The palate is very soft and rich, beautifully framed by very fine tannin and finished by a floral rose lift. Buy it here.
Our Windmill Hill vineyard was planted in 1998 on a gentle west facing slope and generally produces wines of structural intensity and depth of flavour. The nose shows ferrous notes, dark spice and intense dark fruit. This is always a muscular wine with the tannins adding great persistence to the palate.
