"A centenarian site, cropped low. Two years in 25% new French wood before a couple of years of bottle ageing, pre-release. A nice vintage. Dense. Palate staining, but nothing jammy or obtuse. The oak, unresolved. A big wine, to be sure. Clove, licorice strap, mace and a core of gruntish black- and blue-fruit aspersions, tightly furled within the structural carapace. This, too, needs time. Will blossom for those inclined. 95 points"

"Opaque core just fading slightly into a purple tinged rim. Mulberry preserve, dark chocolate, and linseed oil aromatics. Seriously concentrated black fruit fills the mouth. Layers of dark chocolate and warm sweet spices fill every corner of the palate. Tannins are persistent and driving with a very fine grain to them. it lingers long with a silken flow at the finish. 95 points"

"Powerful, dark-fruited, inky and ferrous wine. There’s some exotic spiced oak, black fruit, mocha and liquorice, a dried herb and flower perfume. Throaty and rich in cocoa tannin, coffee and an iodine and nori-laced finish of excellent length. A lot of wine in the glass here, but very good. Give it a few years grace. 94+ points"
