Our Mary Kathleen is generally sourced from the Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard planted in 1986 that sits just to the side of the cellar door.
"Blackcurrant, blueberry pie, mint/aniseed, bay leaf and tobacco, some spicy biscuit oak. It’s medium-bodied, sweet blue and black fruit, but with savoury tobacco/black olive characters, and a subtle earthiness. Tannin is supple and fine-grained, some dried raspberry and nori, and a fine finish of good length. Charming. Very good. 94 points"

"Cabernet excels in these parts. The volume is simply turned up: extract and application of tannins – grape and oak – needed to corral the fruit. Yet this sort of Mediterranean expression remains true to varietal personality when executed well. And here it is: cassis, mulch, sage, bayleaf, tapenade and ample oak, positioned as chamois tannins. Brusque, but all high quality. Needs time. 94 points"
