2022 Dancing Fig

2022 Dancing Fig
2022 Dancing Fig

The grapes for this classic blend are sourced from several family vineyards throughout McLaren Vale. Mataro is grown near Willunga, in the south, on slate soil whereas the grenache and shiraz are grown on the northern end of the Coriole estate on terra rossa soils.

"Dancing Fig" refers to the many species of fig, fruiting and ornamental, that are grown at Coriole. The 2022 Dancing Fig is a Mataro (55%), Grenache (30%), Shiraz (15%) blend.

"Blackberry, earth and spice. Juicy, black fruit pastille and forest berries, some floral perfume, chewy grainy tannin, honey nut cornflakes, a slight warmth but plenty of flavour and character to go with it. Like it. 92 points"
Gary Walsh, The Winefront

"From estate vines, with mourvèdre from Willunga and grenache and shiraz from the home vineyard; 12 months in old oak. There’s admirable vibrancy to this package while it also delivers a gentle cascade of sweet fruit, with blackberry, macerated raspberry, earth, a lilt of rose, some warm baking spices and a subtle inflection of oak. It’s the kind of wine that will appeal to both traditional drinkers and those with newer sensibilities. 91 points"
Marcus Ellis, James Halliday's Wine Companion
