Negroamaro is native to the warm climate of Puglia in Southern Italy, where it is known for producing highly aromatic, deep coloured wine. In McLaren Vale, Negroamaro is a late-ripening variety showcasing classic varietal perfume with a bright line of acid.
"This is a very good showing of Negroamaro. It has all the varietal touchstones of black jellybean, bitter almond, dried herbs and sour cherry fruit. Tannin has a gentle scratchiness, and the acidity is vibrant but settled into a core of blue and black fruit. It’s kind of steely, with blood orange and a juicy sweet and sour finish of good length. Bang on. 93 points"
