Negroamaro is native to the warm climate of Puglia in Southern Italy, where it is known for producing highly aromatic, deep coloured wine. In McLaren Vale, Negroamaro is a late-ripening variety showcasing classic varietal perfume with a bright line of acid.
"Another beautifully medium-weighted negroamaro. That’s not a sentence you hear often. This is a world away from the often opaque, craggy and warm-throated wines from Puglia. That said, this is Italianate in its heady but savoury perfume. Pale in the glass. Redolent of dried cherry and cranberry, plum skin, pressed wildflowers, fennel pollen, star anise, warm terracotta and caraway. The palate is gently but persistently tannic, edging down from mid-weight. Such a beautifully thoughtful and engaging expression of the variety. A delight. 94 points"

"This is light, bright and crunchy. Raspberry, redcurrant, cranberry, a little dried herb, something a bit steely too. Lively acidity, light tannin with a fresh and gently bitter finish of good length. Nice drinking. Easy to enjoy. 91 points"
